1. Prepare program for all rigless activities including: securing wells prior to rig re¬entry, coiled tubing operations such as acidization, and nitrogen lifting; well testing operations; production logging perforating and \"Through Tubing Bridge Plug\" (TTBP) operations and pulling and running of electrical submersible pumps in water wells. Thereafter oversee the implementation of the work by contractors to ensure the objectives are achieved in a safe and efficient manner. 2. Ensure that all HSE risks are indentified and that measures are put in place to mitigate risks and prepare programmes accordingly. In particular ensure that HSE requirements are never compromised and that operations are performed in compliance of the Drilling Reference Manual (DRM), the Drilling Department Golden Rules and Corporate HSE requirements. 3. Report all HSE incidents in a timely and accurate manner using the SAP system and lead the initial on-site investigation of all incidents and near misses to identify and document the sequence of events and the immediate causes. 4. Liaise with Well Integrity Department to ensure that any well integrity problems are properly investigated and assist FDO (D) Engineers in the preparation of proposals for rigless activity to ensure that they are optimized in terms of operational considerations. 5. Prepare the well testing and sampling programs for oil or gas wells. Responsibilities include gathering required information, writing program and overseeing work of contractor through to a satisfactory completion of the program. 6. Direct the production logging activities at oil, gas and water wells (PLT, and RST etc.). Responsibilities include gathering data, preparing program and overseeing work of contractor through to satisfactory completion of program. 7. Review and check invoices for work carried out by contractors. Responsibilities include checking that invoice matches work carried out, accuracy of arithmetical calculations and that charges are in accordance with agreed terms and conditions. 8. Prepare the final operations reports and statistics to ensure there is a complete record of the work performed and the lessons learned. 9. Perform technical studies for rigless operations and keep abreast of the latest technology and techniques to enable continuous performance improvement. 10. Support the training and development of development staff to help achieve the department objectives and targets.


Special Features / Challenges 1. Rigless operations regularly encounter problems especially in wells where integrity has been compromised. Such problems include: stuck tools down hole, wells with parted tubing and annular pressures and require extensive experience and operational knowledge to safely resolve them. Risks must be identified and thoroughly analysed and mitigated in order to conduct operations safely and efficiently. The successful resolution of such problems has a direct bearing on production from the field. 2. Evaluating and understanding risks and thereafter selecting the correct option are of critical importance especially in wells where integrity has been lost. Sound decision making is required based on professional judgment and experience. Incorrect operational decisions could lead to well control problems, environmental damage or failure to achieve the program objectives with substantial loss of revenue. 3. The job requires practical and analytical thinking to resolve operational problems and to provide the appropriate input to future program and intervention plans. 4. Operational problem solving is required after normal working hours (including weekend). The incumbent requires a high level of technical competence and the ability to effectively interface with contractors to resolve problems as they arise. 5. The management of well testing and stimulation operations and other rigless activities requires knowledge of well completions, Wireline techniques and tools, well testing and stimulation activities and the ability to plan and manage resources. 6. The incumbent will have regular (daily) contact with Senior Rigless Operations Engineer as well as Wireline Supervisors, Senior Production Engineers and Senior Engineers to review operations, the daily schedule; operational program and forward plans. In addition he will have regular meetings with Assistant Manager - Well Services to discuss and resolve operational problems and prepare plans, and regular contact with Service Company Representatives to discuss upcoming operations and the requirements for equipment and personnel. 7. The Operations Engineer is on call on a 24 hrs basis to provide operational support and resolve problems as and when required. Weekend duty is work on a rotational basis approximately once in six weeks. Approx. 40% of the time is spent in an air-conditioned office and the remaining 60% is spent at the work sites supervising jobs, obtaining the Permit to Work and Inspection Trips. 8. Duties are performed at the work site are in a hazardous working environment and involve exposure to extreme temperatures that are normally found in the Qatar desert. Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Experience 1. BSc. (3- 4 years) degree from an accredited University. Petroleum Engineering preferred. 2. A minimum of 10 years experience in rigless related activities of which at least 4 years in a similar position with an International Operating Company. 3. In-depth knowledge of well completions, stimulation, logging practices Coiled tubing and well testing operations 4. Experience with H2S operations. 5. IWCF Certificate for Well Intervention (including coiled tubing operations) 6. Fluent in English (verbal and written skills) 7. Strong leadership and people management skills. 8. Commitment and passion for managing HSE. 9. Ability to make operational decisions based on analytical problem solving.
